Welcome to 2022 Marathon #1 Island to Island

Race Schedule:
Check-in 7.30am to 8.00am
Briefing 8.10am
Race Start 8.30am [or as soon after as possible

Number Holder:
Make sure you can locate your number vertically and behind you. If you need, number holders will be on sale for $15.00

Sun and Water:
Put sunblock on and drink plenty of water beforehand

Courses:

Full:
START: Approx 350m upstream of Ascot Jetty
Downstream to right of Ron Courtney Island
Under Tonkin Bridge (1.4 km) & Garratt Rd Bridge (3.4 km)
Turn anti-clockwise round Red Spit Post into Ascot Waters
Back up to AKC, right of Island at the end
Finish at jetty

Short:
START: Approx 350m upstream of Ascot Jetty
Paddle downstream to right of Ron Courtney Island
Before Garret Rd Bridge, turn around red Spit Post off the Bayswater Paddlesports Club Jetty
Finish at the Ascot Jetty, right of Island on way back

Guppy:
START: Approx 350m upstream of Ascot Jetty
Downstream to large orange buoy before Tonkin Bridge
Return upstream to the AKC jetty
Turn through the finish line
Paddle downstream to the right of Ron Courtney Island
U10:
Paddle around the Island and return to the AKC Finish Line at AKC Jetty. – 3.2 km
U12 & Novices:
Continue downstream to large orange buoy before Tonkin Bridge.
Return upstream to the Finish Line at AKC Jetty. – 4.4 km

Paddling Rules:
1. Overtaking boat must keep clear
2. Duty of all paddlers to avoid collisions
3. Deviate to your right if something comes towards you
4. Be ready to help paddlers in distress, time will be given back

Hazards:
Boat Traffic: Rowers, Pleasure boaters, Maybe the ferry
Ascot Waters: Very low bridges

Food at End:
Swan Café will have your burgers ready for you, enjoy !

Results:
Will be presented as soon after race as possible.
Also presentation of Unclaimed Paddler of the Year Awards
