Welcome to 2017 Bevan Dashwood Dash

This race is organised by Paddle WA Slalom Association. Its named in honour of Bevan who has been a very enthusiastic part of the WA Slalom Paddling season for a long time and has been and still is an amazing mentor for all our up and coming slalom paddlers.

Race Day Schedule:

Registration: 7:30am – 8:15am
Briefing: 8.30
Race Starts: 9.00am

Race numbers: Mount vertically on boat. Number holders are available for $15 if you don’t have one. Make sure you write your number and your grid number on your hand

Due to work on the Kent St Weir – this year’s course is different, [start pointing to map]
Start Line to be defined by Starter just ahead of narrow exit from weir outlet
Long Course 12km:
Kent St Weir downstream to 5th Avenue Buoy & return, no portage required, short cut permitted on return leg
Short Course 6km:
Kent St Weir to Shelley Bridge & return, short cut permitted on return leg
Slalom and Guppy Course 3km:
Down river, round the temporary buoy & return
Safety

Hazards: Submerged logs, Shallow water & Fishing line
You have an obligation to assist a paddler in trouble, time allowance if you do
Pass on your right when approaching oncoming paddlers.
Sun protection, adequate hydration.
Mention rescue boats if you plan to have them, up to you
Race Schedule and Grids

Race Starts: 9.00am
Two minute grid intervals, slowest boats first make sure you have grid no. on your hand.
Food:
Slalom Mums and Dads manning BBQ, burgers will be on sale for $5.00 ea
