START LIST 2022 MARATHON #5 MANDURAH CANALS


Location:
Blue Manna Boat Hire, 13B Dolphin Drive, Mandurah
Race Day Schedule:
Check in………………..7.30am
Briefing………………….8.15am
Race Start……………..8.45am [Earlier if possible]

COVID:
Put mask on if you go anywhere indoors. All racers and volunteers are accounted for on the registration and the volunteer list. All others please register on the QR code at the rego desk.

Course Details:
Long course 12.2km, short course approx 9.5km, directions as per map, Short Course turns at Point #4, Guppy Course a circuit nearer the start.

Notes: It is important to keep right and under the footbridge after the start and when returning to the finish



Hazards:
Complicated Course:
Turns in canals will all be policed by Turn Marshalls with Hi-Vis Vests. Slower paddlers will go first and fast paddlers last to keep fleet together.

Start/Finish:
The Start/Finish line will be in line with the timers. If you false start do not stop [15s penalty]

Waves:
Race number indicates wave number: Wave #1 = Outriggers, Gap of 4mins, Waves thereafter: #2 = Div 4 & Short, #3 = Div 3, #4 = Div 2, #5 = Div 1, #6 = Doubles, #7 = Guppy. 4 min gap after outriggers, 2 min gaps after that

Boat Traffic, Choppy Water:
Course is mainly in canals but there could be large boats in the main channel [short sections of race] Recommended you wear your PFD if you are in your K1.

Weed:
Install a weed deflector if possible

Canal Walls:
Locals say there is a step, below the water line to stand on for getting back on, if you fall in

Sun & Heat:
Wear protective clothing, apply sun block, bring water to drink

Ensure vertical & readable both sides. Number slots w suckers will be on sale $15
