Location: Seven Utes Trail Head- State Forest State Park, Walden CO.  Can put in directions to Moose visitors center then go 2 miles past it or before it depending on direction. Entry is off of HWY 14 directly into the parking lot  


General Information

From Denver: Take I-70 to the Empire exit, Highway 40, over Berthoud Pass through Winter Park and Granby. 2 miles west of Granby take Highway 125 45 miles to the east side of Rand. Take County Road 27 14 miles to Highway 14, go right to the park 3 miles.
From Fort Collins: Take 287 to Highway 14 along the Poudre River 75 miles. When you hit the summit of Cameron Pass you are in the State Forest State Park. The Moose Visitor Center is 8 miles west of the summit.
From Wyoming: Drop down into Colorado via Highway 125. Take 125 to Walden, CO. Take Highway 14 east towards Fort Collins 23 miles and you will reach State Forest State Park
• Participants who do not have a State Parks Pass will be expected to Purchase a day use pass for both days. This is not included in the permit or races fees.
• No alcohol or tailgating allowed in parking lots.
• General public may walk through Musher Parking Area. General public will be advised to stand out of the way of starting chute aided by CMM parking attendant.
• Emergency Access via HWY 14
• Mushers and general public will share trails
• No Vendors on Site

Description:
Discover the thrill and camaraderie of sled dog sports with the Colorado Mountain Mushers as we partner with State Forest State Park and Colorado Parks and Wildlife to host our first ever sled dog race amongst the backdrop of the Never Summer Range. This Non-traditional winter event seeks to combine the spirit of adventure with the love of snow dogs in a two-day event on the 9th and 10th of March. This event will utilize existing mutli-use trails in State Forest.


Parking: Seven Utes Trail Head ( large Parking lot) Note: Per State Forest- We cannot park overnight at this trailhead. Please consider using the FS areas for those who are camping overnight

 

Classes:

  • Open (12 miles)-  Open class is usually 8 dogs plus there is no Maximum number of dogs (*Driver's 16 and up)
  • 6-Dog (12 mile) *Driver's 16 and up
  • 6-dog sprint pro & purebred (6 miles) *Driver's 16 and up
  • 4-dog sprint pro & purebred (4 miles) *Driver's 14 and up
  • 2-dog sprint (2 miles) *Includes Driver's under 13
  • 2-dog skijor (6 miles) *Includes Driver's 13 and up
  • 1-dog skijor (4 miles) *Includes Driver's 13 and up


Race Entries Estimate 40 entries Non CMM members - 10 dollar extra fee added to each entry.
