Register here for: 

    • Ben Ward 40 Miler – Saturday 13th December 2025 – A 64 km paddling race down the Murray River from Yarrawonga to Cobram VIC. Includes a 20km Junior event from Checkpoint B. Hosted by Cobram Barooga Canoe Club. Check-in opens at 6:30 am, first start 8:00 am (earlier if forcast hot weather).
    • Thompsons Beach Circuit – Sunday 14th December 2025 – A circuit paddling race held at Thompsons Beach, Cobram VIC. Hosted by Cobram Barooga Canoe Club.  
    • Murray Handicap Race- Sunday 14th December 2025 - Short course lap race at Thompsons Beach, Cobram, with portage option. Total distance 4.5 km. Hosted by Paddle Victoria Marathon.

 

 

The MURRAY TRIPLE CROWN is awarded to the fastest male, fastest female and fastest team who complete the three events across the weekend (the fastest male and fastest female must complete the full distance Ben Ward 40 Miler on Saturday but can participate as individuals or in relay or double crews for the Sunday events).

 

PADDLER NOTES

Each paddler MUST register. Register for full distance, relay teams or junior events. Chaperones are required for some paddlers - please see safety requirements below for details.  

 

Note: Race classes will be allocated based on age/craft and a preliminary start list will be emailed to all competitors on Friday 12th December. Our intention is to create competitive classes to ensure a good race experience for all. Please review the list and contact us immediately if any changes are required. No changes will be permitted on race day. 

 

There are three relay legs on the Ben Ward 40 Miler and Thompsons Beach Circuit races. 

 

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Wearing an approved PFD is mandatory for all events.
  • For the Ben Ward 40 Miler paddlers will also need a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch (one per boat) and a pea-less whistle attached to their PFD. 
  • Paddlers aged 15 years or younger, and paddlers requiring assistance re-embarking following a capsize, must be accompanied by a competent adult paddler (one chaperone paddler or crew requiring assistance). Each chaperone must register for the event seperately and select the 'Chaperone Only' event option. There is no race entry fee for the chaperone but a the non-PA member fee may apply.   
  • Checkpoint B will close at 1:30 pm.  Any competitors arriving after this time will need to withdraw from the race at this checkpoint.

 

Do not attend if you have symptoms (Covid or flu) or are unwell. 

 

N.B.  Unfortunately due to a joint announcement by PA and AOCRA in April 2022 OC6, V6 and V3 craft are not permitted to attend this event.
