2026 Tour de Plain Event # 2 Course Description
The event offers two race options: a short (5 km) or a long (10 km) tour of the Beaver Creek Trail and Meadow/Sprint loops area. You can opt for classic or freestyle technique. Both options begin and finish at the Meadow Loop trailhead in Plain.
For the 5 km short course, begin from the Meadow Loop trailhead and scan the short course START QR code there. Ski the Beaver Creek Trail towards Mountain Springs Lodge, then turn right when you reach Meadow Loop. Ski clockwise on Meadow Loop trail until you reach the intersection with Sprint Loop. Turn left and ski Sprint Loop in a clockwise direction. Scan the QR code at the top of Sprint Loop. Continue clockwise on Sprint Loop back to the intersection with Meadow Loop. Backtrack counterclockwise on Meadow Loop and turn left when you reach Beaver Creek Trail. Ski back to the finish at the Meadow Loop trailhead. Scan the short course FINISH QR code to complete the event. There will be 3 QR codes scanned on the short course - START, top of Sprint Loop and FINISH. All QR codes for the short course are on red signs.
The 10 km long course will be two laps of the short course. There will be 5 QR codes scanned on the long course - START, top of Sprint Loop on Lap 1, end of Lap 1 (turn around just before the start point), top of Sprint Loop on Lap 2, FINISH. All QR codes for the long course are on blue signs.
The course will be open from Friday, January 30, 2026 starting at 8 AM through Monday, February 2, 2026 completing the race by dusk. There will be a community start time window on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:00, allowing you the opportunity to be on the course with other participants if you choose to. During this time window volunteers will be present to welcome you, answer any questions you have, and cheer you on.
You can ski the course as many times as you’d like. Your times will be recorded and your fastest time counts. Enjoy the skiing!
