Type of ride: Sunday Ride
9 weeks to RLCT!
Description : Road Ride from the airport to the south and southeast
Start Location : NRC-Airport https://maps.app.goo.gl/yde7tqTUGw7ka6XM8
Start Time : 10:00 AM Departure - gather 9:30 -- 9:45
OH YE! Encore! Cristina Inglis, our new Group Rides Director, is leading 2 more ride leader training seminars in the next three weeks each lasting 1.5 hours. If you are an experienced OBC rider, please volunteer from time-to-time as a ride leader. Your club needs you!
If you haven't yet received the rider leader training, please attend (no advance sign-up required) an on-line 1.5 hour Rider Leader Training Session to gain whatever knowledge you may feel you don't have, and do your part to support the club's group rides.
FYI: even new riders not intending to lead a ride any time soon will learn a lot by attending a session. It's free. It's short. It's terribly exciting!
Ride Leader Seminar Dates: Apr 19 @10 AM. May 1 @ 7 PM.
Details in the club calendar: https://ottawabicycleclub.ca/club-calendar/
Upcoming Club Events: Please take a look in the calendar to see what upcoming events you may wish to take part in.
Volunteer's sought: If you are not joining the Sunday ride next week (April 27), please consider helping out with the Spring Ritual Almonte-Paris-Roubaix ride. Info: https://ottawabicycleclub.ca/almonte-paris-roubaix/
REMINDER: group ride participajnts must have previously attended an OBC Group Riding Clinic (GRC).

This year, starting with the April 20th ride, the GRCs will be scheduled coincident with Sunday rides for the first several weeks of the season; that is, starting from the same place at the same time.
Is your bike ship-shape? Are you carrying basic tools and equipment? Be sure all the critical components -- brakes, drive train; tires -- are in good shape and thus ensure that your bike won't be inclined to leave you in tears at the side of the road. On all club rides (in fact, whenever you ride), please carry, minimally, a spare tube, tire levers, air pump (or equivalents for tubeless). Having bright, day-time running lights (front & back) is also a really good idea to improve your visibility.
Keep an eye out for trash, rocks, sand, gravel, etc. on the roads, especially rounding corners. It's unlikely that the street sweepers will be out tout de suite, so Spring requires special attention to the road surface.
On to the ride...
Spring has been delayed, but we will persevere in the cool temperatures that continue. Continue to wear layers. Something impervious to wind on top; long-fingered gloves; something warm for your legs, arms and torso. Maybe a buff-like thing to keep your neck and head warm.
This week, we jump over to the airport for rides that will lead us to the south and southeast: Greely, Metcalfe, Russell, Embrun. Some pleasant country roads.
Bonne route!
