Cypress Ski Mountaineering Race 2025 #3

The Cypress Mountain Ski Mountaineering race is an opportunity to test your skills and gear in a challenging SkiMo course on the Nordic trails at Hollyburn. All participants must have a valid season pass or Nordic trail ticket for the race day; this is separate from the race entry fee and must be purchased at the Nordic ticket window before proceeding to the Lodge. All participants must sign a Cypress Mountain Special Event waiver in the Lodge; any participant under 19 years MUST have a Parent/Guardian sign the waiver. Please arrive by 18:30 at the Hollyburn Lodge for waivers, equipment inspection and pre-race talk. The course for this race is shown below and will be 1 or 2 laps, It will take between 40 and 90 minutes to ski. The start and finish are at the Hollyburn Lodge. Full SkiMo race equipment is required. Alpine touring (lightweight and heavy metal) or Telemark gear is required. Sadly split board has been discontinued for this race. Nordic gear is not allowed. This includes a transmitting avalanche beacon, shovel and probe, helmet and turned on bright headlight. This will be an interval start race to avoid congestion during the initial ascent. The start will be skins on. The course will be marked with bamboo with distinctive markings and transition zones will be marked with shorter bamboo on both sides of the trail. (Green = skins on, Yellow = boot pack, Red = skins off heels locked)These technique changes are on the honour system as there will not be course marshals in those areas. There are no prizes for the winners other than personal glory, but there are draw prizes for athletes and volunteers if your name is pulled from the hat.

  I had hoped to finish at the Upper Warming Hut with chili etc, but that has been nixed. We will finish at the Lodge. Also Split Boards have been nixed as well. (Not my choice...) The attached map is almost the route we will use tonight.
