Swimmers will be required to adhere to Masters Swimming Australia General Rules and Open Water Swim Rules as applicable at the close of entries.

 - No extraneous aids are allowed.

 - Goggles are allowed and recommended.

 - Swimmers are required to wear either the swim cap issued at registration or one of their own of a similar colour for their selected race. The swim cap must be worn at all times until the finish of the swim.

 - The wearing of heavy jewelry and/or watches is not allowed due to safety requirements.

 - Non-approved FINA swim wear will disqualify the swimmer from any awards or points for team awards.

 - The use of wetsuits is guided by MSA OWS Rule: OWS 5.11.3

For open water swimming competitions in water with temperature below 20 C, men and women may use either swimsuits (BL 8.4) or wetsuits. For the purpose of these rules, wetsuits are swimsuits made of material providing thermal insulation. Wetsuits for both men and women shall completely cover torso, back, shoulders and knees. They shall not extend beyond the neck, wrists and ankles.

Clarification:

      • When the water temperature is below 20 C wetsuits are allowed and the swimmer is eligiblefor trophies or championship honours and points.
      • When the water temperature is 20 C or above wetsuits may be allowed at the discretion of the Meet Director, but the swimmer then becomes ineligible for trophies or championship honours and points. If awards are given to wetsuit swimmers, they shall be awarded separately from non-wetsuit swimmers.

Prizes on offer:

First Female (non-wetsuit), First Male (non-wetsuit) and First Wetsuit swimmer for each distance (1.5km, 2.5km and 5.0km).

Free entry to the next Noarlunga Reef Swim for entrants finishing xxth for each race distance.

Things to between 1.5km and 2.5km finish and presentation if you have time. Or once we're all done and dusted: The Port Noarlunga Reef Aquatic Reserve is a popular snorkelling location, with more than 200 marine plants and over 60 fish species. If you have time, bring your family and snorkelling gear (just goggles will do), walk to the end of the jetty, take the stairs to the waterline and step off into the wondrous underwater world of the reef and see the inhabitants for yourself. A small piece of banana will attract them!
