A clinic on starting a biathlon program will be held at Blackhawk Ski Club from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM on April 11, 2015. This class will go over the various aspects of successfully starting and sustaining a biathlon program and facilities. The clinic will be led by Mark Torresani and will include the lessons learned over the past 12 years while initiating a biathlon program at Blackhawk Ski Club. Course content will include, safety, range layout, range procedures, equipment selection and availability, insurance and liability, programs, races, a brief overview of snow making and the cost associated with starting a program. Participants should dress appropriately to be outside for a good portion of the morning. The class will be held rain, snow or shine.

Fee $50.00 (Bring fee to clinic after registering online.)

9:15- 10:00 Introduction to Biathlon—Biathlon in the USA and Midwest, USBA, insurance for biathlon programs and events, biathlon safety, biathlon Events, budget to start and sustain a program
10:00- 11:30 Range and Course Set Up
11:00- 11:30 Race Formats, Registration, Timing and Scoring
11:30- 12:00 Snow Making and Grooming for Biathlon
12:00- 1:00 Lunch— Open discussion and site specific layout assistance. Bring your club’s trail layout map, if possible.
1:00- 2:00 – Blackhawk Facilities Tour
2:00- 3:00 –Biathlon Rifles and Range Procedures
3:00- 3:30 –Biathlon Coaching, Program Manager, Race Directors, Volunteers
