Welcome to the 2024 Canning Classic brought to you by Canning River Canoe Club

Join us for what promises to be a memorable edition of the Canning Classic and help celebrate Canning River Canoe Club's 50-year anniversary. 

 

RACE NOTES:

 

Where: Shelley Sailing Club, Watersby Crescent Shelley.

 

Schedule: Check in - 7.30-8.30am. Briefing - 8.30am. Race Start - 9.00 am. 

 

Courses: Main Course [approx 13km]. Short Course [approx 6km]: Guppy Course [approx 3km} - Refer to Map.

 

Craft: Kayaks, Skis, Canoes, Outriggers, Dragon Boats, Stand-Up Paddle Boards - All welcome.

 

Entry Fees: Adult PWA Member - $25.00. Junior PWA Member - $15.00. Guppy PWA Member - $10.00.

Guppy non members add - $10.00. Adult non members add - $20.00 - This covers Paddle Australia and Paddle WA fees LATE ENTRIES will be accepted on the day. Cash only payment and add $10.00 to applicable fee. Burger and drink included in entry fee. Special gelato available to add the anniversary celebrations.

 

Grids: Three available: Competitive - For faster racers, who average +10km/hr. Intermediate - Experienced, regular racers, who tend to be a bit slower (8km-10km/hr) and would appreciate a start grid with less water turbulance. Novice: For new paddlers or those who are not in a hurry. Select the most appropriate.

 

When prompted to enter your Paddle Australian membership number, please enter 6 digit number. Use 0's in front of your number if you don't have 6 digits. Ensure D.O.B. is in YYYY-MM-DD format. 

 

Team boats: All paddlers must register individually. Select boat & category. Provide name of each team member.

 

Race Numbers: Make sure you have a number slot [on sale for $15 at rego].

 

River Hazards: Details to be provided at Race Briefing. Be mindful that the course has some submerged posts, logs and wrreckage of a scuppered barge. Trailing rudders recommended. If your boat has an underslung rudder, consider for a shorter river length and weed deflector and take care cutting corners and near the convicts fence lines.

 

Prizes: Great prizes on offer, awarded by random draw.
