SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS – MOTO
Special Notice: TGR 1000 will comprise two separate events i.e. TGR 1000 BMS Quad and Bike Championship open to OR1; OR2; OR3; OR4 Senior; OR5 Masters and OR6 Ladies, OR 7 Bike Classes and Q1 Open; Q2 Senior; Q3 Masters and Q4 Quads. The event is Round Two and Three of the BMS National Championship and will score accordingly. TGR 1000 Desert Adventure – a non-scoring event open to participants aged 18 and older with an overall classification of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Bikes and Quads, respectively. |

JURISDICTION: Held under the 2023 BMS General Competition Rules (GCR’s) and Appendices, the 2023 BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s and any 2023 BMS Cross Country Motorcycle and Quad Commission Circulars and any Final Instructions and/or official bulletins, which may be issued. EVENT AND STATUS: The event will be known as the TGR 1000 and will comprise the: TGR 1000 Round Two and Three of the 2023 Botswana Motorsport (BMS) Off Road Championship TGR 1000 Desert Adventure – Invitation Race  The event will start at the commencement of the Documentation formalities and will be deemed to have ended once the results have been confirmed. |

10. ELIGIBILITY OF COMPETITORS: All competitors must comply and acquaint themselves with GCR 325 in the 2023 BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad GCR’s. Competitors may not compete in more than one class. Crews holding competition licenses from countries other than South Africa will be accepted according to FIM International Sporting Code. Entries will only be accepted on the following condition: A copy of the competitors’ Passport, medical. documentation and Start Permission letter from the ASN are presented and approved by BMS. |

27. PRIZE-GIVING: | Prize giving will take place at Jwaneng Sports Complex once the results are final. BMS: 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Class. Trophies will only be awarded to competitors who completed the entire event. i.e., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Trophies will be awarded for each round, respectively. TDR 1000 Adventure: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Overall Bikes and Quads Competitors who do not attend the prize giving to receive their prizes/awards will forfeit them unless they have received permission from the COC. Refer to GCR 280 BMS GCRs. |
28. REFUELLING: | Refueling Regulations. Attention is drawn specifically to the deployment of fire extinguishers. Refer to 2023 BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad GCR’s. The use of Environmental Mats during servicing is compulsory. IN THE CASE OF A CONFIRMED SPILLAGE, A FINE OF P1500.00 (one thousand five hundred pula) WILL BE LEVIED AND THE RELEVANT CREW/S WILL HAVE TO CLEAN UP THE SPILLAGE TO THE LANDOWNER’S SATISFACTION AND PAY THE COSTS THEREOF. Refer to BMS Environmental Code. |
| The use of an environmental mat (or other effective ground-protecting devices/systems) is compulsory at ALL motorsport events to prevent soil and water contamination. (For specifications see APPENDIX 11 – ENVIRONMENTAL MATS). Note: environmental mats are also required under engine and gearbox in the pre- and post- race Parc Fermé. Please note that no hazardous waste (empty fuel/oil containers) may be disposed of in the refuse bins. All empty containers must be removed from the pits/DSP and returned to your workshop for disposal. Refer to BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s. NB fuel containers must be marked with Race number and placed at the fuel drop off zone by 17:00 on Friday, 22 June and Saturday, 23 June. Fuel containers must be collected by no later than 19:00 on Saturday, 23 June and Sunday, 24 June 2023. ANY CONTAINERS NOT COLLECTED ON TIME WILL BE DISPOSED OF BY THE ORGANISERS. |
29. FINISH AND ROUTE CHECK CONTROL CARDS: | Helmet stickers will be supplied and must be on the left-hand side of the helmet. The onus rests with the competitor to hand in his sticker on completion of the event. THIS STICKER IS TO BE PLACED AT THE BACK OF THE INCIDENT REPORT FORM. Refer to BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s. |
30. FINISH: | The Finish of each section will take the form of a Timed Control. Competitor’s Total Race for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday plus any penalties incurred, will determine their overall finishing time and final position, with the competitor scoring the lowest total race time being declared the winner in his/her category, then second with the next lowest total time, then third and so on for all qualifying competitors. |
31. IMPOUND, PARC FERME, AND POST RACE SCRUTINEERING: | An Impound and Parc Fermé in accordance with GCR 252 will be in operation at the end of the main race. Late close of Impound will incur a thirty (30) minute penalty. The Organizers may, at their discretion, carry out post-race scrutineering checks. Refer: GCR 253 and GCR 254 and SSR 25 of the BMS National Cross Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s. |
32. TIME BAR: | Refer SR 8 The organizers could also calculate cut-off times at various Marshal Points and Check Points along the route. These cut-off times will be published in a bulletin and posted on the Notice Board at Race Headquarters. Competitors, who arrive at these cut-off points after the cut-off times, will be instructed by the Marshal to return to the pits via the most direct route. The organizers will not be responsible for sweeping or the medical recovery of any competitor who disregards a Marshals instruction in this regard. |
33. SWEEPS AND RECOVERY: | A radio/phone sweep will be conducted of the route and Sweep vehicles will be on standby if required to pick up stranded crewmembers. There will be recovery vehicles on standby to assist after the event on each day to help recover the bikes/riders where possible. Stranded racing machines and/or spares may only be recovered once racing on that section. has been completed. Furthermore, competitors/crews may only proceed onto the racing route after consulting with and obtaining authority from the Clerk of the Course. |

35. RETIREMENT AND EVALUATION REPORT FORMS: Refer SSR 347 of the 2023 BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s. Please Note: Incident report forms are to be submitted to race control immediately after each competitor has completed it. FAILURE to do so it will be recorded as a DNF on the results. |
36. POSTPONEMENT, ABANDONMENT, OR CANCELLATION: The Organizers reserve the right to postpone, abandon or cancel the meeting or any part thereof. In the event of any of the above, the Competitor/Entrant has no right to claim against the Promoter/Organizer in respect of any loss or damage he/she may incur, other than that specified in GCR 273. The meeting will not be postponed, abandoned, or canceled without the consent of the BMS Steward in accordance with GCR 152. |
37. ADVERTISING: Refer to GCR 246 (iii), GCR 247, and SSR 328 a) ix). |

39. PROTESTS: All protests and appeals will be dealt with as set out in GCR 19723. |

41. RIGHTS OF THE CLERK OF COURSE: The Clerk of the Course and/or the Stewards of the Meeting have the right to call a halt to an event due to “force majeure” for any of the following, but not limited to, reasons: i) Extreme weather conditions ii) Serious or fatal accident iii) Sections of the route being deemed impassable owing to recent extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances. iv) Dangerous circumstances for riders involving spectators or bystanders. v) Any other circumstances which the Clerk of the Course, in his sole discretion, deems to be dangerous or prejudicial to competitors. vi) In the event of an event being halted as above or for any other reason, the Clerk of the Course will inform all marshal points to stop competitors. The riders will be scored back to the last timing point they passed before the event was stopped. |
42. CROSSING OF PUBLIC / DISTRICT ROADS: As the organizer we have fully acquainted ourselves with SSR 340 of the 2023 BMS National Cross-Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s We, the organizers, are also aware and have acquainted ourselves with the provisions of Section 317 of the Road Traffic Act and confirm that the event officials have been made aware of the above section. By allowing the event to proceed we accept that all requirements are complied with and where applicable all relevant permissions are in place. |
43. PUBLIC ROADS AND ROAD CROSSINGS STOPPING: | At least one foot needs to be on the ground when the rider comes to a standstill. The foot and bike must be stationary, and no dragging is allowed. Refer SSR 340 b) vii and viii) of the BMS National Cross Country Motorcycle and Quad SSR’s. |

48. CATERING & REFRESHMENTS: Fast food catering will be available TBC. We respectfully wish to remind competitors, their crews, and visitors that the Jwaneng Sports Complex is a licensed facility. We request that you act responsibly in the matter of bringing liquor into the grounds. |
49. CAMPING: BMS will organize a DIY Camp Site for all the participating riders. All camping must be pre-booked and pre-paid. The rider entry fee includes camping for a rider and mechanic, pit crew pays P200.00 a day for camping. Details to be shared. Please be advised that all campers respect the curfew time of 22:00 – 05:00. NO OPEN FIRES will be permitted in the DSP AREA at all over the weekend for obvious reasons.
