[The Norfolk Broads Ultra Participation Consent]
The minimum age for participation in The Norfolk Broads Ultra is 18 and the paddler must be of that age on the day of the event. This age restriction is due to the challenging environment of the Norfolk Broads and by the request of the event insurers.
You agree that you have will realistically assessed the gravity of taking part in the NBU event, and will have taken responsibility for yourself in that you will have suitable trained specifically in order to participate in this event. You will also participate on a craft considered of high quality and will have the personal ability to undertake the distances set in this Ultra distance event.
You understand that there will be section 'cut-off times applied to the course throughout its duration and an average paddling speed of 6.4kph (3.9mph) will be required in order to make the cut-offs. Should you not make the set cut-off times per section, then you will be notified of this by a race marshal and you will no longer be able to carry on to the finish and will be asked to retire from the event. Should you receive a 'retirement' notification and you still wish too carry on paddling, you will be able to do this but you will also understand and accept that this is to be 'outside' of the race and you will no longer be covered by the event insurance, receive any assistance or safety cover and will complete the event at your own risk - please note that this is without prejudice and is for safety reasons only.
You understand and acknowledge that SUP, Prone Board & Kayaking type activities can be potentially dangerous and that there are inherent risks which may result in serious injury to yourself. You also understand that water/waves/tide and general weather can act in a sudden, unpredictable and changeable way and you declare that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50 meters (164 feet) and believe you have the ability to repeatedly remount an SUP, Prone Board & Kayak/Ski without external assistance as a result from a fall/capsize.
You declare that you have read, understood and agree to Norfolk SUP Racing's event cancellation policy and will abide by the statements within that policy. The policy is available to read at the end of the race entry process on Webscorer, which will be in advance of any actual booking taking place.
Refunds, Participant Cancelations, Withdrawals & Deferrals.
You are eligible for a full refund (minus a the online booking fee) within the 14 days cooling off period from the day of booking - Note: The cooling off period does not apply where a booking is made within 14 days of the event date. Any withdrawals after the 14 days cooling off period will not be eligible for a refund. Deferrals to the next years event cannot be accepted however, you are able to transfer to another participant - please email if this is to be the case.
Due to the nature of sporting events we are unable to make exceptions for injuries, pregnancy etc.
Course Amendment & Cancellation Policy.
Norfolk SUP Racing will host the best and safest event possible. In the event of circumstances beyond our control which results in potentially unsafe conditions, Norfolk SUP Racing will either:
Amend the course to make the event safe.
or
Where conditions cannot be made safe, cancel the event.
Where the event is modified under condition 1 above, no refund will be applicable. In the event of a cancellation under condition 2 above, competitors will be offered the option to transfer to the next years event under the same terms of their existing registration. Where possible, we shall give at least 24 hours notice to any potential amendment or cancellation. No refunds will be offered if cancellation is due to an unforeseeable natural disaster or ‘act of God’.
You declare that you do not have any medical or physical conditions that would affect you participation in the activity. (e.g. please advise event organisers in advance of asthma, dislocated joints, back issues, diabetes, allergic reactions, hearing aids or any other disabilities which may have an effect in participation to this event.)
You agree not to drink/have drunk alcohol or to take/have taken prohibited drugs before or during this event. You authorise Norfolk SUP Racing or any third party acting on its behalf to take photographs during the event and that these may be used for any future advertising or marketing purposes.
You agree that in no event will NOA SUP Racing or any staff employed or volunteered, both directly or by contract during the course of this activity be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever without limitation arising from the contracting of COVID-19 Coronavirus whilst engaging in any of our activities and/or sessions.
By agreeing to this Participation Agreement, you thereby release and discharge the afore mentioned from any claims and liabilities against us due to any COVID-19 Coronavirus circumstance which might occur. You understand that this document constitutes a complete and unconditional release of all liability of the proprietors of NOA SUP Racing, its employees and agents to the greatest extent allowed by the law in the event of me and/or the children under your care suffering injury or death.
You authorise Norfolk SUP Racing to arrange medical or hospital treatment as necessary and I agree to pay for all/any-associated costs.
