Mathews Market Days 5k and 1m Fun Run



The Event. Starting & finishing at Historic Mathews Courthouse, the race is the opening event of the annual Market Days Festival. The 5k route offers a variety of running terrain, from sidewalks, wooded trails, oval track, grass fields and even past a graveyard. The one mile fun run is free & open for all ages - the course stays out-and-back on sidewalks past the local elementary & middle school.

The Sponsor. The Mathews Outdoor Club (MOC) is the race sponsor for this year's Market Days Race. The MOC is a nonprofit organization with a mission to promote the use of Mathews County's plentiful & unique outdoor spaces for fun & fitness. The Course. The Market Days races - both 5k & 1m - start and finish next to the Historic Courthouse Green in the center of Mathews, Virginia. Race participants will meet at Put-In-Creek Park Pavilion and run or walk along sidewalks to the local schools and then run two loops along the wooded & grass trail behind the schools, then back along sidewalks to the finish. No roads means no traffic other than your fellow participants.

The Cost. The cost for the 5k race is $30; the one mile Fun Run is Free. All 5k participants will receive custom SWAG. Top finishers in the 5k & Fun Run will be recognized in the post-event festivities and 5k winners will receive awards.

Note: Race will be held as long as a minimum of 20 are registered by Sat 9/4. If less than 20 sign up, race will be canceled & registrations fees refunded.
