Gwynn's Island Festival Race Options: 4 mile run OR 10 mile bike OR Combine them for a Run/Ride Duathlon



The Event. This event runs in conjunction with the Annual Gwynn's Island Festival in late June. This race is in its 6th year; the festival has been going on for more than 70 years. More about the Event on VisitMathews.Com.

The Cause. Each year a local organization co-sponsors this race and receives the proceeds from it. The race director for the Festival Race has selected the local high school athletes (MHS) as the recipients of this event's proceeds.The Gwynn's Island Civic League - the festival sponsors - will also receive a donation.

The Course. You will enjoy this FAST, FLAT course - whether you're running, biking or both - along the island coast with overlooks of Chesapeake Bay along the way. Gwynn's Island is one of Virginia's little-known gems: a welcoming community, scenic views, and full of history. Stick around after the race and enjoy the Annual Gwynn's Island Festival. This will be a day you won't forget and will want to enjoy year after year!

The Cost. The cost for 4m Run and 10m Bike single races is $30 and the Run/Ride Duathlon is $50. There will be a Fun Run (just over a mile) which is FREE. Note: to help limit the contact between participants & volunteers, there is no race day registration this year. Pre-registration also allows us to purchase the correct sizes and numbers of race day swag.

The Swag. All event participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and finisher medal. Top finishers in the run, ride and combo will be recognized along with age group categories for each event. Yep, the Hula Dancers are back!
