Event notes
Join us for fun, exercise, and community support for Greensboro's natural treasure: Caspian Lake!

In order to have our Ninth annual Caspian Challenge, we need to change things due to COVID-19. To best avoid any crowded gatherings, we open the event to be run at any time on Sunday morning. We will still host a race start at 8:30am for those interested yet there will no registration at ball field, no bibs, and no official event timing. All registration will be done online. All runners will time themselves.

The course will be set as prior years with mile markers, water stations, and a finish line. Yet there will be no gathering at end. Prizes will be awarded by random drawing to registered participants.

Pre-registration is still strongly encouraged, yet you may register anytime on Sunday. Please email your times to Stew Arnold at stewarnold@hotmail.com by end of day Monday. The results will be posted.

Registration fee will be a suggested $10 donation this year. No charge for those under age 13. Minimum age to participate is 7. Children 7-13 are strongly encouraged to register with an adult in the same event.

For everyone's safety and comfort, pets are NOT permitted in this event.
Strollers are permitted in the 5K walk.

Our 5K is an out-and-back along Lake Shore Road. This is a rolling dirt road with some views of the lake.

The 6.8 mile Lake Loop starts on pavement and runs through the historic center of Greensboro Village and then out of town on the Craftsbury Road. The course continues along the eastern shore of Caspian Lake before proceeding uphill to the Highland Lodge. After the Lodge, the route turns northwest and on to dirt road. Continuing on North Shore Road, runners will find their next water stop at Campbell's Corner after a series of hills. From here, the route turns south on to Lake Shore Road (also dirt) and then on to the finish.
