Uses of Plants:  Ethnobotany with Julie Pinnix Drop-In Registration opens August 12th

**Drop-In Registration is limited based on PVAW Summer Registrants' ability to attend events. Drop-In registration opens one week prior to events.

Julia Pinnix was raised in national parks, started school in northern Virginia, finished high school in Olympia, WA, and went to college in Bellingham, WA.  While in college, she worked summers for the US Forest Service in Alaska, moving up to Alaska after graduating to work for the National Park Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, private wildlife tour companies, and as a back country kayak guide.  She has lived much of her life in areas that still hold their natural large predators.  She is currently the Visitor Services Manager for Leavenworth Fisheries Complex.
 
The Plan
We will head out on a 2-3 miles hike with varied terrain and little to no elevation gain.  Along the way, Julia will explain to us how to identify certain plants and their uses.  
 
What to bring?
A Day Pack containing the following items:
Small Notebook & Pen/Pencil
Proper dress for the weather, layers are always wise.
Sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito spray, a hat
Sack Lunch, Snacks & Water
Hiking Boots or shoes suitable for varied surfaces
Hiking Poles (recommended)

Transportation Details
We will caravan from Plain Hardware at 9AM to our destination.
