Join me, Mark Simons, from D2f & Cityfit for an adventure ride to Sofala and back to Bathurst with a Gravel Twist!
There is an option to stop at Sofala if you arrange a car to collect you. The full loop will head back from Sofala via Red Hill rd ( gravel) . The ride will be moderate pace, but you will need a gravel capable bike, that is a MTB, Cyclecross, Gravel bike, or Road bike with wide off road capable tyres. ( I have done the loop previously on both MTB and Gravel bike, all gravel roads are well formed, with no single track)
This is an unsupported ride, you will need your own spares, enough drink and food to get to Sofala (77km). I'll stop at the Painted Horse Cafe for a re fuel. Full loop ride time estimate around 7 Hours, so you will need to be reasonable experienced with some long distance/hours. Intensity will be as low as possible to ensure we get through the day.
I'll ride past one of my work colleagues property that was in the fire zone at Palmers Oakey. On the way the ride climbs to 1200m ! Weather conditions vary, I'll be taking a wide range of clothes to cover changeable conditions.

I'm asking for a $10 entry fee of which 100% will go directly to The Bathurst Rural Fire Service to help support the local volunteer Fire Crews.
You will also have more opportunities in the lead up week and the following week to donate more if you can. Wouldn't it be great to get $1 per km we rode !
The ride will Start at DOPPIO at the end of Keppel Street, roll away at 7:00am.
