Welcome to The 2019 Tingira Challenge, hosted by Shark Island Paddlers.

This is not a Paddle NSW Harbour Series event. It is sanctioned by PNSW but you must be a member of PNSW or be covered by a PNSW Day License to enter.

Tingira Challenge takes place wholly within the enclosed waters of Port Jackson / Sydney Harbour.
Long Course ~ 15km
Short Course ~ 9km
Long Course paddlers must be able to cover 9km within an hour or risk being DNF. Pls enter Short if unsure.

Several Wave starts (Long / Short / Doubles).
Standing Start (Stand bedside your boat in knee to waist deep water).
The finish is between flags off the beach in knee deep water.
Please remove boats quickly to allow others to finish behind you.

Race notes:


PFDs to be worn by ALL paddlers in this event.
Leg Leashes to be available for use on the day for all paddlers in this event. Race Director will make a call on the day if to be worn. SUPs to wear Leashes.

Standard Entries are $35 per paddler and close at midnight on Tuesday 12th March.
Late Entries are $45 per paddler .

All entries close at midnight on Thurs 14th March


There will be No On-The-Day Entries


Paddler Registration is compulsory on site from 7am to 8am.
All paddlers MUST attend Registration to be checked in to the race. No Rego = No Result (DNS)
Race Briefing - 8:15am.
Race Start - 8:30am.

Trophies/Awards:
–The Tingira Challenge Trophy for 1st Male Surf Ski Long Course competitor
- The Helen Jacobsohn Cup for 1st Female Surf Ski Long Course competitor
- The Howard Geoffrey Bersten Memorial Trophy for 1st Surf Ski Short Course competitor.

Other Long Course prizes awarded on the day eg:
1st Double (M / F / Mixed)
1st OC1 (M / F)
1st SUP (M / F)
1st Sea Kayak (M / F)
Lucky Draw prizes.
