When the Washington Biathlon Association was formed in March 1999 one of our goals was to someday have an integral part in supporting and developing a Washington grown member of the U.S. Olympic Biathlon team. We completed the process of becoming an IRC 501c3 non-profit in 2000 with the idea that we could obtain tax deductible donations to help young biathletes develop. Later we began a Biathlete Development Fund and periodically sent out notices requesting donations. WBA members responded and over the years we funded several very worthy candidates two who made the national development team.

As 2019 begins we now have two Washington biathlon youths worthy of our help. Bella Fox was invited by the USBA to apply for one of two slots at the International Biathlon Union development camp, held in conjunction with the World Biathlon Championships in Oestersund, Sweden. She crafted her application and she was selected to fill one of the two slots allocated to the United States. Later we learned that Alex Tereski would be attending a camp in Norway that was set up by Marc Sheppard of Altius Biathlon in Montana. As you might imagine while these selections are impressive and represent amazing opportunity for these two young people, the bulk of the cost falls on their families. The WBA Board of Directors has already taken steps to provide some funds but more could be used. Please join me in donating to the WBA Biathlete Development Fund to assist Bella, Alex and in the future others as they pursue not only their dreams, but our organizational dream too. The WBA will provide documentation records for your donations.
