The 2018 Heathen Challenge at Sunlight Mt. Resort is Saturday, January 13th.

As always the Heathen Challenge strives to incorporate backcountry skiing and skinning into a ski mountaineering race.

This year we hope to put ever more of the course in the backcountry surrounding Sunlight Mt. For “non-elite” racers you’ve nothing to worry about; if you’re an expert skier and can perform a kick-turn on a steep slope you’ll have a great day of backcountry ski racing. The Sport course is always a great option (and recommended) for first-timers.

Sunlight Mt. will be hosting demo equipment from Cripple Creek Backcountry from every major ski touring brand all day from the base area.

– Friday bib # pickup will be at Cripple Creek Backcountry from 5-7pm.

– 8:30 AM START, late registration, number pick-up in Sunlight Mt. base lodge from 6:30 am.

– The RECREATION course will be approximately 2,500 ft., the RACE COURSE 4,500+.
