The event on the 26th July 2020 was postponed due to a Strong Wind Warning and Heavy Rain. This event is a redo and some spaces may become available due to cancellations due to the change in date.

"Lets put the canoe back in River Canoe Club"

River Canoe Club has had a long history of canoes, however equipment trends over the last couple of decades has seen the canoe replaced by kayaks. This is now going full circle with the recent acquisition of a fleet of new canoes. Paddling a canoe requires a different suite of paddle strokes to paddle them effectively, once mastered a canoe can be a very versatile craft.

River Canoe Club has arranged some canoe skills training from one of Australia's best canoe instructors, Travis from Paddle and Portage Canoes.

This training will start from the basic paddle required to paddle a canoe:
- How to paddle a canoe in a straight line
- How to paddle in a pair with bow and stern paddle strokes.
- How to maneuver a canoe with paddle strokes or combinations of strokes.
- How to safety empty a capsized canoe and re-enter a canoe in deep water.

Participants of this training will learn the basic canoe skills to become confident and competent in a canoe.

This training will be a great way to start your canoe journey or make a transition from the sport of kayaking to the art form that is canoeing.

Note numbers are currently limited to 12 people per day.

The one days canoe training will have a fee of $65 to cover the cost of putting on the event.
Training, Club canoes, paddles and PFDs will be provided in this fee.

Note this event is a River Canoe Club Members Only event, by signing up for this event you agree to be a River Canoe Club Member before the 29st July 2020.
