Fernie’s second Birkie will be an approximately 50 km classic event, unsupported, on March 10th organized in cooperation with Fernie Alpine Resort. Bring your registration fee of $20 per person on the morning of the event. Alternately your payment may be done now with a credit card or by e-transfer. See details on the next page..

Route:
From Elk Valley Nordic Centre and return to same point
From Warming Hut > Runt > long way around Galloway > ski hill connector > across the bottom of the hill to the Deer chair > Deer chair up > over to Silk trail > Scandia trail loop > Silk again > lower mountain back to the connector (no chair lift) > long way around Galloway > Runt > Hut This route would be done twice for the race. The strava/gps info with distance and route is here.

There will be a cut off time for the second loop announced at the meeting on the morning of.

Birkie Solo Mens / Birkie Solo Womens / Birkie Solo U16 (please fill your own backpack to 12 lbs)
Birkie Lite (no 12 lbs pack) same categories as above
Birkie team mix/mens/womens (2 per team, each do one loop, teams can go at the same time or relay)

Participants to meet at the hut at 9:00 a.m. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. and there will be a cut off time to start the second lap announced on the morning of. Lift ticket for the Deer chair at Fernie Alpine Resort is included in your race fee (waiver completed ahead of time).

Bring your classic skis as skating is not allowed in this event.
Prizes for best costume (not only more fun, but proven to make you faster!).

This event is unsupported but there will be aid/food at the hut and at the bottom of the Deer chair for when the racers come around.
