Entry on the Day will incur an extra $5:00 fee.

The Moore River Race starts in the picturesque seaside town of Guilderton. With the Indian Ocean in the background the paddlers head east up the Moore River Estuary. On the way they will pass the well known sand dunes, Diamond Island (Short Course turn) and pass under power lines before negotiating the top turn. Water levels will depen on the amount of water trapped behind the river mouth sandbar allowing for fast times or a shallow race with lots of weed and a risk to deep underslung rudders. The well prepared paddler will have checked out the sometimes tricky turn around the top island or plan on following and letting the race leaders find the route for them.

The BE ACTIVE WA Mixed Doubles State Championships will run as part of this event, enabling male and female team boat combinations to train together and try to win the medals in the Juniors (U18,) Open or Masters (45+) classes or the Hines Family Trophy for the fastest mixed doubles craft on the day.

Other paddlers compete in one of the four Long Course (13 km) divisions or in the 7km Short Course. Guppies and Novice paddlers paddle up to the famous Moore River Sand dunes and run up to the “turn mark” on the sand dunes before returning to the start/finish line.
