MARATHON No. 2 - THE MOORE RIVER RACE
& MIXED K2 CHAMPIONSHIPS NOTE: WATER DEPTH HAS BEEN VERY LOW,

Water Depth Update Thur 19: Sand bar reported as closed, unconfirmed reports say water level rising [little weed]. Race Director paddled the course pm Wednesday 8th. Depth mostly 50cm+ in the channel. At 4.2km mark there is 300m with only 30cm. Underslung rudders will be a problem outside of the channel [consider plastic ?].

RACE LOCATION:
Guilderton 94km, 1hr 12mins North of Perth CBD
Start/Finish: Guilderton Boat Ramp.

RACE DAY SCHED:
Check-in: Sun 12 Nov 8:00 – 9:00 am
Briefing: 9:15 am
Race Start: 9.30 am
SAFETY, HAZARDS & POINTS OF NOTE:
Boat traffic throughout course.
Shallow water and obstacles [logs]
Championship classes to have medals awarded & to earn extra Paddler-of-Year Points.
Moore River Foreshore is a DOG FREE AREA
This is a good introductory race for new paddlers
Sun and heat: Apply sun block, bring water

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Long Course [11.3km]:
Start nr Guilderton Boat Ramp, paddle up past Diamond Island at 3 km, on right, continue upstream to buoy at boat ramp (Barragoon Road). Turn anti-clockwise around buoy. Course shortened due to shallow water & trees
Return downstream, passing Diamond Island on left. Finish line is at start location.
Short Course [6.5km]:
Turn anti-clockwise at buoy just before Diamond Island, return to start.
Guppy Course:
From start line, paddle upstream to the last buoy opposite Sand Dunes. Land on beach, run up sand dune around mark (separate marks for U10s & U12s ) Paddle back downstream to Finish Line, same place as Start.

LUNCH, COFFEE:
Café at car park, also Country Club a good option, suggest you book
