Before the start, it seemed as if it would be a fast night but the wind picked up and the first outward, uphill leg of the event was against a stiff wind. To make things a bit harder for those riding the 40 km, the wind changed during the second half of the event , making the going tougher. The poor conditions made Don Gillmore's 56 minute ride even more excellent than his usual fast times, and his best 40 km time on the west course. 9 year old son Ian did a fabulous sub 1h 25' ride!
In the women's 40 km, Janna Gillick did her best time this year and Lorrie Baildham nearly best 1h 10' on her way back from injury.
In the 20km event, Deb Epps won the women's category while Meghan Gillmore beat Abigail Hare by well over A minute to take the female youth cat.
