Finish: Ascot Kayak Club, Garvey Park, Fauntleroy Ave, ASCOT.

NOVICE COURSE, GUPPY COURSE
A. START at Barkers Bridge heading downstream to Ascot
B. 2.1 km to Guildford Road Bridge.
C. 3.6 km to Ron Courtney Island. PASS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
D. Turn anti-clockwise around the island then return to Garvey Park, with Ron Courtney Island on the left, to FINISH at the AKC jetty. Do not pass under the Tonkin Highway

Special Conditions:
- It is recommended that sun screen and sun protection (hat and long sleeves) are worn.
- Paddlers wishing to withdraw must notify officials and return their race number to the finish. Paddlers are advised to carry mobiles for this purpose.
- All paddlers are advised to take adequate fluids for hydration during the race.
- The course is not technically challenging but it is long.
- Entire course is flat and mostly deep, usually with very little wind. Below Middle Swan Bridge, the river is wider, and some river traffic may be expected.
