LOST COAST STORM RUNNER (the “Event”) — WAIVER & RELEASE OF LIABILITY
By registering for and/or participating in the Lost Coast Storm Runner (the “Event”), I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following terms:
1) ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I understand that participation in the Event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: running, jogging, walking, and/or traveling on public roads, sidewalks, trails, and/or uneven terrain; interaction with motor vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians; hazards such as potholes, loose gravel, sand, mud, wet surfaces, slick pavement, rocks, debris, wildlife, and/or obstacles; physical exertion; falls; collisions; weather conditions including wind, rain, fog, cold temperatures, and limited visibility; and proximity to coastal conditions including cliffs, ocean surf, tides, and/or water hazards.
I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable, and accept full responsibility for any injury, illness, death, or property damage that may occur.
2) RELEASE OF LIABILITY & HOLD HARMLESS
In consideration of being allowed to participate in the Event, I, on behalf of myself and my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, and next of kin, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the following entities and individuals (collectively, the “Released Parties”):
Lost Coast Tourism Association (LCTA)
Surf Point Coffee House
Gyppo Ale Mill
D. Perkins Events
and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, agents, representatives, sponsors, affiliates, and event staff
along with any property owners, governmental entities, or permitting agencies connected to the Event
from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, and damages arising out of or related to my participation in the Event, including but not limited to any injury, illness, death, or property damage, whether caused by negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
3) INDEMNIFICATION
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from my participation in the Event, including claims brought by third parties.
4) MEDICAL CARE & FITNESS TO PARTICIPATE
I certify that I am physically fit, in good health, and able to participate safely in the Event. I acknowledge that medical support may be limited and/or delayed due to location, weather, or conditions. I authorize Event staff and/or emergency medical personnel to provide medical treatment if needed, and I accept full responsibility for any medical costs incurred.
5) EVENT RULES, SAFETY, & INSTRUCTIONS
I agree to follow all Event rules, instructions, signage, and directions from Event staff, volunteers, and public safety personnel. I understand that I may be disqualified or removed from the Event without refund if I act in an unsafe or disruptive manner.
6) WEATHER, COURSE CHANGES, & CANCELLATION
I understand that the Event is intended to take place rain or shine, unless conditions are deemed unsafe by Event organizers. I acknowledge that the course, schedule, or format may be modified at any time for safety or logistical reasons. (Optional:) I understand that registration fees are non-refundable, even in the event of cancellation, delay, or course modification.
7) PHOTO / VIDEO RELEASE
I grant permission to the Released Parties to use any photographs, videos, and/or audio recordings of me taken during the Event for promotional, marketing, and informational purposes, in any media, without compensation.
8) MINORS
If the participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign below. The parent/guardian agrees to all terms of this waiver on behalf of the minor participant and accepts full responsibility for the minor’s participation.

I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY. I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY. I UNDERSTAND THAT I AM GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE.
