Waimarama Open Handicap N#4

And this will be the same distance that you have run for all the Handicap events this season.

This week we are running from Waimarama Surf Life Saving Club. Please park in the Domain by the Playground and walk through the Playground to the surf club, to find the start flag.
Timing Clips can be picked up from 1.30pm, we will be running around the Domain on grass/road and crossing the road in places in the domain plus running along the beach!!
This is the 2nd to last handicap event for this season. There has been 3 other handicap events during the season in which points are earned and a cup is awarded at the prizegiving for the runner with the most points. For those unfamiliar - a handicap event is where time penalties are added to the fastest runners based on results so far this season.
In an ‘open handicap’ every one knows their time penalty with the slowest ranked runners starting first and then everyone else is allocated a starting time through to the fastest runner starting last. The first person over the line wins.
A 'closed handicap' is where everyone starts together and the handicap is added to the fastest runners times after the event.
This Saturday is an 'Open handicap' event.
For this event and the other 4 handicap races you can choose from the following distances in your age grade and you will need to stay with the same distance for the 5 races.
U20 and Seniors / Masters can choose to race 1km 2km 4km 6km
U18 U20 Seniors / Masters can choose to race 1km 2km 4km
U14 U16 U18 U20 Senior / Masters club members can choose to race 1km 2km
U10 U12 U14 U16 U18 U20 Senior / Masters club members can choose to race 1km
Remember your age grade is your age as at the 31st December 2025
Stay after your race for a BBQ at the Waimarama Surf Club and socialise with other members, a spot prize draw and there will be the opportunity to purchase singlets, t-shirts and hoodies.
Courses will be:
2.00pm - 6.0km - run 3 Laps
2.07pm - 4.0km - run 2 Laps
2.15pm - 2.0km - run 1 Lap
2.20pm - 1.0km - run 1km short Lap
