Wetlands Wander 2025 Course:

This year, the course has been relocated closer to the VMR Pontoon, allowing for an open water entry/exit area and washdown point. Also allows for a bigger warmup and cooldown, away from start and finish lines.

5 km – Loops, all going in a clockwise direction. Right hand turns at both turn-1 (at the Nudgee Creek canoe ramp) and turn-2 (closest to the mangroves at the 6-knot red channel marker). This will alleviate some wind hazards from the SE and ESE, up to 15-knots and keep paddle craft away from power boats exiting and entering Marina.

Warmup area, between Yundah St, boat ramp and Baxter’s Jetty. Enter water via Yundah St boat ramp.

Start line will be between the blue yacht and the red channel marker.

Travel south into Cabbage Tree creek, staying between the Shorncliffe Marina on your right and the moored yachts on your left, Turn left into Nundah Creek.

There will be white drums in the creek, that will be placed on corners.  Keep left of these drums.

Turn 1 will be marked by 2 x orange buoys at the Nudgee Creek canoe entry/exit ramp, turn right around both turn buoys.

Returning along Nundah Creek, keep left of the white drums.

Turning right from Nundah Creek back into Cabbage Tree Creek, keeping the red channel marker to your right, staying in the main channel, keeping Shorncliffe Marina on your left and the moored yachts closest to the mangroves on your right.

Turn 2, for the 10 and 15 km race will be a right-hand turn, marked by 3 orange buoys. Boats will come into the turn from the main marina channel, exiting turn, traversing between the mooring poles and moored yachts on your right and mangroves on your left, staying out of the main channel.

Finish line for the 5, 10 and 15 km, will be between the blue yacht (Yellow buoy) and the bank (Flag on Bank). Yellow marquee on finish line, call out your number to time keepers as you finish.

Warm down area between Yundah street boat ramp and Baxters jetty.

Note: When you have completed washdown, take your number back to the catering desk and receive a food and drinks voucher.  If you are in a team boat, bring your paddle partner to receive two vouchers.
