The Oceana Clifton paddle race (The event), from Oceana Power Boat Club, is held in potentially treacherous conditions i.e. strong winds, very cold water, rough seas, big surf, changing weather conditions, etc. The paddlers shall organise their own safety procedures. Unseaworthy paddlers should not participate. Safety equipment should include: cell phone with NSRI SAFETRX app, Life jacket, paddle leash, boat or SUP leash, flares, whistles, wetsuits etc. Flares and cell phones should be on the paddler in case the boat is lost.
Due to the nature of the event, the organisers, clubs, sponsors and associated individuals and groups do not accept responsibility for the paddler, or dependant thereof in respect of any loss, injury, illness, damage, accident or fatality arising out of participating in the event.
DECLARATION:
I have read and fully understand the conditions and general information set out on this form. If I paddle a surfski or a SUP I declare that I am a paid up member of Canoeing South Africa and I hold at least a "surfski" level of proficiency.
If I am not a member of Canoeing South Africa I declare that I am a member of Life Saving South Africa and a registered Life Saving Club and I hold a life saving certificate of competence of at least a JLA or sufficient to show my competency to manage my chosen craft in open ocean conditions.
On behalf of myself, my executor and any dependents, I absolve the race organisers, sponsors, venue owners, other participants and/or affiliates of any liabilities whatsoever and realise that I participate in the event at my own risk.
I hereby apply for registration for the above events and agree to abide by its rules. |
