2025 March Madness Outrigger Canoe Race

Date(s):

• Saturday, March 22nd & Sunday, March 23rd, 2025
• Open teams to race on Saturday
• Masters teams to race on Sunday

Time:

• 7:30am - Team Check-in Opens
• 8:30am - First Heat Steers/Safety Meeting
• 9:00am - First Heat Start
• Heats continue through the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
• Complete schedule and race grid available no later than March 17th, 2025.
• All Steers/Safety Meetings will be 30 minutes prior to your heat. 
• The event may run ahead of schedule... Please arrive a minimum of 1 hour prior to your heat

Location:

• FCRCC Burrard Outrigger Compound 
• 1628 Whyte Ave, Vancouver, BC

Distances:

• Heats - ~5kms
• Finals - ~2kms

Race Fees:

• Juniors - $80 per team
• Adults - $160 per team
• Payable by e-transfer or PayPal
  • e-transfer to VancouverVaa@gmail.com.
  • PayPal receipt will read MINDFULLCON / Carole Fullerton

Registration Notes: 

Online registration only.  

Registration closes Monday, March 10th at 5:00 pm.

• Men's and women's teams may be combined to form mixed teams
• Mixed teams can have a maximum of 3 men
• Steerspeople are available upon request for those who may not have one. Please let us know well in advance.

CORA Membership is required for all participants!

You must purchase your CORA before race day.

PLEASE DOWNLOAD and E-SIGN the Team Waiver and submit it electronically to Carole Fullerton  (vancouvervaa@gmail.com) no later than March 15th, 2025.

Waiver forms will be sent by email along with your registration confirmation.

Equipment:

• Canoes provided
• FCRCC has a limited number of PFDs and paddles available should you require.

Safety:

• All paddlers MUST WEAR a PDF.
• If you are not wearing a PFD, your team will be disqualified.
• If you are wearing a Vaikobi PFD, you must also have a CSA approved PFD in the canoe. 
• First Aid attendants will be available onsite
• On water safety boats will be stationed on course

Additional Information:

• Washroom facilities available onsite (porta-potties)
• No change rooms available. Ensure all team members are dressed for the weather.
• Bakesale items available for purchase with proceeds to support Vancouver Va'a programs and bursaries
• Pay parking in effect
