1. While North-Vic Backyard Ultras has taken steps to ensure that the course is safe for runners, there is still potential risk for injury. The runner takes responsibility for potential injury accepts that neither NVBYU or Greater Shepparton City Council are responsible for injury incurred during the normal operation of the event.
2. If at any time a runner notes a risk on the course, they are requested to make the race director aware of that risk at the completion of their current loop.
3. NVBYU or any of their elected officials reserves the right to remove a runner from the race if it has been deemed outside the runner’s best interest to proceed. (This is reserved for a medical withdrawal. And must be agreed between the RD, a medical provider, and a crew member if available)
4. In the event of a medical emergency, the event team will call for Ambulance Victoria assistance if deemed necessary. This may result in hefty ambulance fees if you are not covered by some sort of ambulance cover. North-Vic Backyard Ultras does not accept any responsibility for these costs, and they remain payable by the participant.
5. The runner acknowledges that they are aware of the following rules and are willing to abide by these rules at risk of disqualification.
a. The runner must complete the loop within the hour and be ON the start line at the time of the next bell. If the runner is not in the starting corale at the commencement of the next loop, they will be disqualified.
b. Runners must not accept aid in any form while on the course. This includes dropping off or collecting equipment (clothing etc.)
c. Runners are permitted to leave the course to use the toilet while completing their loop.
d. All runners must be wearing a head/chest lamp for the entirety of night loops. Any runner that has not got a head/chest lamp when in the start corale and the bell goes will not be allowed to continue. Receiving a light after the bell constitutes receive aid and will lead to disqualification. (Torch loops will be noted by RD well before loops start)
6. Minor entries – The 2025 event will include children’s pricing for any runner under the age of 18. The following rules apply depending on the child’s age on race day.
a. Under 14 – May only enter if they will be accompanied by a competing parent, relative, family member or other designated adult (partner). The child will be restricted to running until the dusk loop, at the end of the dusk loop, they will be required to end their race.
b. Over 14 – May enter if not accompanied by a guardian on course, however, will also be required to end their race at dusk. If the child is accompanied by a competing adult (partner), they will be allowed to continue to run until they are no longer capable of continuing or their partner resigns, at which time they must also resign.
c. All children must have a parent/guardian at the venue at all times, and will be required to have the ability to contact that person at any time.
d. As in point 3, NVBYU officials reserve the right to determine the end of the child’s race depending on their position. If this clause is being enacted, the parent/guardian will be consulted and notified of the decision.
7. Media - As an entrant, images and videos of myself will be captured and may be used in media outputs from the event. These may include but not be limited to social media posts during and post event.
If you would not like to be photographed, please cross your arms if you come towards a camera, and they will note that. Additionally, a disagreement on this form will have any images captured of you not used.
