BIG CLARENCE Paddle Board Classic
Welcome to BIG CLARENCE Paddleboard Classic . Ths is a flat water marathon paddle held exclusively for SUP and Prone paddle craft and will occur on Saturday May 4 th on the mighty Clarence river in Northern NSW. This year through our event we hope to gift some financial support to both Lower Clarence amateur rowing club and also Yamba SLSA Nippers.
Participants can enter to do the full 46 km course or the 26 km short course. Both distances are conducted on the same stretch of water and will start at different times to ensure the majority of paddlers finish at roughly the same time.
This year 2024 the course will commence at the small river township of Brushgrove travel down river through the historic town of Maclean and finish at Whiting beach at the iconic coastal surfing and fishing village of Yamba.
Participants can enter as a solo paddler for both the long and short course or as a member of a relay team either 2 person or 3 person. Note that the short course caters only for the 2 person relay due to the nature of the course.
Solo paddlers can enter into age categories . Relay teams will be classified as all age combined and no gender distinction so a team can consist of any combination of male and female and any age . The only requirement for relay is that the type of craft used must be consistent for each leg.
Awarded categories will be determined by an appropriate number of participants for each category . If numbers prevail an award will be provided .The focus on awards will be for the full distance however each participant or team will record an official time and this will be publicised through Webscorer and the media platforms used.
Life vests are not mandatory but we advise their use during the race.
Leg leashes must be used and provide connection for the paddler to the board at all times during race. Our insurance dictates this requirement.
Early bird discounted entry applies up until March 15 th.
Entry fees are the same for relay members and individual paddlers and for both distances.
This years event singlets are snug fitting . Choose up one size if looser fitting is preferred.
Please ensure you provide the correct contact detail in your registration. Organisers will use these details to provide updates of the race if and when they are required.

We plan to run the presentation awards directly after the race finish on the beach . We expect to conclude by 2 pm.
