Welcome Dragon Boat Racers!
Thirsty Horse Ltd and the Lamma Dragons are delighted to announce that we are hosting the 15th Annual Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival at Tai Wan To Beach, Lamma Island, on Sunday, May 5th, 2024.
Competitions & Categories include:
- Men’s, Women’s and Mixed 500m races;
- Men’s, Women’s and Mixed 1,000m races (this race is a free optional addition to the 500m race);
- U18 Youth Mixed Crews (aged 12-17) 500m races (note: U18 crews do not race in the 1,000m event); and
- NEW:The Lamma 500 is introducing a “500m Mixed Corporate Cup”,
The “500m Mixed Corporate Cup”, will be open to corporate, business, or association teams at no extra cost beyond the regular entry fee.
Throughout the day, all teams will compete in standard Lamma 500 heats. The top-performing crews will advance to their respective 500m final races at the end of the day. The top-scoring Corporate Teams may then choose to compete in the Corporate Cup final.
This new cup final is optional and can complement their participation in regular finals. For instance, if a team like BNP Paribas Dragons secures a place in both the Plate Final (7th fastest Mixed team) and the Corporate Cup Final (3rd fastest Mixed Corporate Cup team), they may choose to race in one or both finals based on their preference.
There is no additional charge for Corporate Cup competitors. Teams who wish to enter this category should answer "Yes" when prompted in the registration form.
Fees:
- Early Bird Fees for all Adult Teams: $4800
- Early Bird Fees for U18 (Youth Mixed) Teams: $2600
- Regular Fees for Adult Teams: $5200
- Regular Fees for U18 (Youth Mixed) Teams: $3000
Early bird fees close at 6:00pm on Wednesday, 14 February 2024 (payment must also be made by this date). After Feb 14, all team entries will pay regular rates.
Final Registration closes at 6pm, April 23, 2024. Crew entries are limited, so apply soon to avoid disappointment.
Important Note:
Each Team Crew requires an individual entry and payment on webscorer.
Confirmation of your entry can only be made upon the receipt of entry fee payment/receipt. Early Bird payments must be paid in full by February 14 or regular fees will apply.
Other Information:
- Dragon Boats are 20-person boats plus an active drummer and a steersperson.
- Mixed teams require an equal number of men and women in the crews (eg: 10 men and 10 women paddlers)
- Helmsmen are available for $800 for the full day; marquees are available for $600 for the day (there is a discount if you order more than one).
- Paddles are provided, however; paddlers are welcome to use their own IDBF-compliant paddles.
- The Lamma International Dragon Boat Festival is a Green Event. We offer recycling stations, paperless programmes, and a water refilling station (at no charge). Please avoid single-use plastic! - For those of you who are new to the Lamma 500, the 1,000m race is optional (and there is no extra charge for the 1000m race), but it is one of the most popular features of our event.
