1. By April 29, 2023, you must be 18 years or older. Ages 14-17 may enter if in a boat with parent or legal guardian.
2. A 12-mile race on the Powell River (Class 1) from Well Being Retreat Center, Tazewell, TN to Riverside Rentals in Harrogate, TN.
3. Provide your own boat, paddle(s), safety gear, river shoes, water & snacks. Or make prior arrangements to rent a boat from Riverside Rentals or other kayak rental business.
4. Enter single kayaks longer than 18 feet or less than 40 lbs as "Racing Kayak." Enter canoes and double kayaks as "Racing Kayak" if boat weigh less than 3 lbs per foot plus 6 lbs.
5. Non-refundable Entry Fees : $35 for Singles and Recreation categories; $55 for Doubles. Boats in the Recreation category may be single or doubles, kayaks or canoes, men and/or women, age rules apply.
6. Cash prizes: $150 for 1st Place; $50 for 2nd Place in each category except the "Recreation" category. If less than 3 boats are entered in a category, race organizer may combine category.
7. Races begin at 9:00 AM. Races will start by category. Start Times will be announced by April 22.
8. Sign-in at the Starting Area at least 30 minutes before the Start Time for your event. If not at the Starting Area at least 20 minutes before your Start Time, you may be disqualified.
9. A Coast Guard approved floatation device (life jacket) & river shoes (not flip flops) are required..
10. Be prepared for any river or weather conditions that may arise - the Powell River is not dammed and can have highly variable flows. Race organizers reserve the right to cancel the Regatta if river or weather (lightning) conditions are dangerous, in their sole opinion. In such case, all entry fees will be refunded.
11. Participants are responsible for loss or damage to any personal property incl. boats, paddles, gear, electronic devices, watches, cameras, eyeglasses, etc..
12. Dogs, firearms, alcohol, and illicit drugs are not allowed at the Regatta Start or Finish Areas
