The Goodwin Forest Trail Run is back for 2021!

There are a few changes for 2021 addressing concerns for health/safety of the participating runners; these are:

1. Run is “semi-virtual” - along a prescribed course with the runner selecting the day/time they run between 5/29 and 6/13. Runners will be self-supported and submit their finishing time.
2. Courses of 10K, 20K, and 30K distances are laid out primarily in the Natchaug State Forest with a leg of the 20K coming into the Goodwin Forest. The Course Descriptions, Mileage Markers and Maps are at https://www.friendsofgoodwinforest.org/goodwin-forest-trail-run.html.
3. IMPORTANT - NEW LOCATION: The Run will begin close to the entrance of the Natchaug State Forest off CT Rt. 198 approx. 2.7 miles south of Rt. 44 and 5.6 miles north of Rt. 6.
Suggested parking area is immediately on right side of the entrance road. If running during a weekday, feel free to park in the lot or picnic area closer to the River.
Starting Pont is across the closed bridge approx. 225 yards up the road where the CCC Trail (blazed Blue/Yellow crosses.
4. A registered runner can participate in any or all the distances during the 16-day run window.
5. The number of registered runners is capped at 250.
6. There is NO Registration Fee to participate.
7. All finishers who submit their times will be mailed the traditional Goodwin State Forest trail bandana and can pick up a unique finisher’s trophy.
8. PLEASE NOTE: Running on Trails can be dangerous. If you decide to do this run, you must accept all responsibility for your safety. You must carry a fully charged cell phone, a map of the course and alert an emergency contact that you can reach if you get into trouble. There will be no support provided by the Friends of Goodwin Forest. In many places the footing is very technical. If not sure of your footing, WALK!
