2021 WildWater WA Livelighter Summer Training


The 1st of 6 consecutive FREE training sessions for the 2021 WildWater Summer Series with Terry Bolland.

Friday, January 15, 2021
Location: Claughton Reserve, Katanning Street Bassendean
Training start: 6:00am
Training finish: 7:00am

Course: Starting at Claughton Reserve, paddlers complete a different circuit course each week

These are flatwater obstacle courses designed to develop and test the paddlers ability to manoeuvre a WildWater kayak around obstacles of floatation buoys and trees. This is a great opportunity for new paddlers who would like to test their boat handling ability before entering the races with greater water flow later in the season.

The training sessions are open to all boats classed as wildwater/downriver kayaks as per ICF regulations. These include overall length of no more than 4.5m, with no rudder (or with their rudder tied up)

Sundries Note (Boats not classed wildwater/downriver kayaks)
For those who do not have access to a wildwater/downriver boat, these training sessions are designed for shorter competition boats with no rudder (or rudder tied up).

There are several wildwater/downriver loan boats available, so please ensure to select throughout registration if you require the use of a boat.


Safety: Helmets & PFD’s are not required for this race, although PFD's are recommended. Additional Buoyancy is also recommended.
