Ho Ho Ho - It's that time of year: cookie time!


Let's close out a CRAZY running year with a "sweet" live (non-virtual) event: The Cookie Connection 5k run at the Mathews County Visitor Center (MCVIC).

Located at 239 Main Street in Mathews VA, the Visitor Center is the the host site of this holiday themed race. The race follows a 3+ mile course right through the center of town. All participants will get yummy treats to enjoy post-event or at home AND a custom "Cookie Connection 2020" holiday ornament.

Cookie Connection 5k race safety precautions.
For the safety and comfort of racers and volunteers, the race director & MCVIC have agreed upon the following precautions. Read through these thoroughly and don't hesitate to send questions on race security to vttrunners@gmail.com.

Masks indoors - race check-in will be just outside the Visitor Center building (covered porch), as will the post-event snacks & drinks and awards. Access to the indoors is available on an as-needed basis (restroom use, for example).

Social distancing - the Visitor Center will be open during the event. HOWEVER due to safety guidelines for Virginia, we are limiting & monitoring entry indoors so we do not exceed a 25-person limit. Please help us stay in good standing with the MCVIC by limiting your building access.

The race start will be divided into "lanes" spaced six feet apart. Groups of 4-6 people will take off followed closely by another group until all runners are on the course. The turnaround spot will also be the water stop. This event will be chip timed: as you finish your race, check our live results (webscorer.com) for your progress - and stick around for awards.

What's on the cookie plan? Home baked goodies and hot chocolate (perhaps some egg nog) will be served up for race participants. We're looking forward to seeing you then!
