Paddle WA Special Ski Regatta


This ski-only regatta is an opportunity for ski paddlers to engage in a new race format and gain access to a world-class paddling venue. In WA there are many who paddle skis, BUT who is truly the fastest ski paddler? Which ski is considered best for flatwater speed? Who will take home bragging rights?

This regatta is designed to provide ski paddlers a taste of the precision timing of a sprint kayak regatta in the comfort of their own ski, benchmarking performance over 3x Olympic class distances.

Preliminary schedule
8:00am: Briefing
8:30am: 200m
9:20am: 500m
10:10am: 1000m
10:45am: 800m Double Ski Event
11:15am: Carbonology Club Challenge
11:45am: Presentation

Race Seeding
This will be done by fitting paddlers into divisions based on craft, speed and gender. Please indicate your expected level of performance for each distance to help us seed the regatta well.

Performance Levels


200m
Novice (>58s male, >63s female; 11kph)
Intermediate (53-58s male, 58-63s female; 13kph)
Aspiring (48-53s; 53-58s female; 15kph)
Elite (< 48s male, < 53s female; 15+kph)

500m
Novice (>2:45 male, >3.00 female; ~10kph)
Intermediate (2:30-2:45 male, 2:45-3.00 female; ~11kph)
Aspiring (2:10-2:30 male, 2:25-2:45 female; ~13kph)
Elite (< 2:10 male, < 2:25 female; 14+kph)

1000m
Novice (>5:30 male, >5:55 female; 10kph)
Intermediate (5:00-5:30 male, 5:25-5:55 female; 11kph)
Aspiring (4:30-5:00 male, 4:55-5:25 female; 13kph)
Elite (< 4:20 male, < 4:55 female; 14+kph)

 Carbonology Club Challenge
Teams of 3 will be assembled with clubs able to enter an unlimited number of teams (enter on the day).
The course will involve a short run to your ski and paddle (x3). More information will be released ahead of the event.
The winning club prize will receive a brand new carbonology split shaft paddle and cover (Valued at over $500).
