Join the fun!


We have a great slate of fun and daring adventures and activities lined up for this year! Some will be fun and social like our "Tie Dye, Tats, and Trades" event and some will make you step out of your comfort zone! All activities will be led by our coaches, and some with the help of strong female mentors from our community.

The Plain Valley Nordic Teams - Adventure Girls is open to girls ages 10-15, as of June 7, who were registered in last winters PVNT ski program, or skiers who have registered for the upcoming winter ski program for 2019-2020.

Athlete's Goals:


1. Have fun with friends in both social settings and through activities other than skiing.

2. Be brave and take chances.

3. Form strong social bonds within the group.

4. Support our teammates by being inclusive, supportive, and kind.

Program Goals:


1. Keep girls healthy, happy, active, empowered, confident and inspired in cross country skiing through their teen
years.

2. Create greater gender equality on the PVNT.

This program will be led by our own PVNT Senior Racer/Coach Faith Warthen and Coach Terri Weiss. This group will provide all-girl activities that focus on having fun with friends, fostering social belonging and creating a supportive team focus. It will run from July 2019 and end in March 2020 with roughly one session per month.

While we focus on having fun, some important topics will get discussed as part of this program. They include managing self-expectations at races, goal setting, PVNT culture/expectations, conflict resolution, away race preparation, harassment, body image, and how skiing/training/racing athletes manage their menstrual cycles within the construct of the ski team.

Our end goal is to keep our athletes skiing, while developing their self-confidence, empowerment and knowledge as they become young adults.
