Event notes

In the time of COVID-19, we are duty bound to isolate at home and do our part to protect our communities. But show us four walls and we’ll find more than enough space to run!

This Challenge is here to motivate you and give you a reason to run during this lockdown. All you need is the will to "move it, move it", a cellphone or smart watch and Strava. For the privilege of taking part in this Challenge, we are asking you to donate any amount of money, which will be given to support our fellow Namibians whose lives have been or will be rocked by this crisis.

PLEASE NOTE: The objective of this challenge is to motivate each other and raise funds for those who face losing their income, jobs and/or livelihood. We ask that you do NOT push the boundaries and put yourself and/or others at risk in order to participate in this Challenge.

The world we live in is changing in front of our eyes. But you have the choice to keep moving and make a difference. COVID-19 will not keep us down, we will not let it! We may have to stay apart but we will be together in this Challenge and together in the fight to help all Namibians get through this. Take up the challenge!

Rules and other information
* To complete the Challenge you need to run more than 42.2km (an Ultra is any distance longer than a standard marathon) during the lockdown period (Saturday, 28 March to Thursday, 16 April).
* This is the total number of kilometres and can be done in as many or as few runs as you like. We recommend setting a daily target: eg, 2.5km per day = 56km.
* You must be a member of the Ultra Namibia Lockdown Challenge on Strava.
* Runs must be uploaded to Strava in order to count.
* Run in and around your home. If you live in a complex, on a farm or have access to more space than most, you are welcome to use it. Use your own discretion. Just be lekker.
* No matter your living situation, all running should be done responsibly and in line with social distancing recommendations.
* All amounts donated will be transparently recorded, verified and totaled. Participants will be notified of the handover of funds to the relief effort and/or charity organisation identified and the handover will be done publicly.
* You take part in this Challenge at your own risk.
* The rules of this Challenge are subject to change as a result of any additional regulations issued by the Government of the Republic of Namibia.
* Anyone (from anywhere in the world) is welcome to take part.
