Free Radicals Tribe Kids Come TRY-Athlon

The Free Radicals Tribe is a family friendly and all ability triathlon and multi-sport group, for the Townsville region. We aim to help all individuals maintain fitness for life, not just for a race.

We are excited to announce our 2020 Kids Come TRY-Athlon, which is a structured one day introduction to the great sport of Triathlon. This event will get your kids understanding the basic rules and tips and techniques for each of the Swim, Bike and Run, ready for their first Triathlon.

So when is it and how much?
Dates/Times: Sat 20th June (8am – 12pm) and Sun 21st June (6am to 9am)
Duration: 1.5 days with the second day providing an opportunity for them to use their new skills in an actual Triathlon designed just for them.

Cost: TBA

So what is covered?
Theory on all disciplines
Basic swim, ride and run techniques including how to transition
Mounting and Dismounting your bike

Who can play?
The minimum age is 6 years old on event day. The maximum age is 14 years old on event day. You must be able to swim 25m unaided and ride a bike unassisted.

What do I need to bring?
Swimmers, towel and goggles
Bike and helmet (non-damaged and with working clip)
Running shoes
Water bottle

Awesome skills to set you up for your first Triathlon!

This is a great way to learn the sport of Triathlon and meet new friends. With the
Weet-Bix Kids Tryathlon event coming up on the 26th May as well as Townsville Triathlon Festival on the 18th August & other local events this year, it is a great introduction and lead up to these events to get you ready for the starting line!

I agree to my child participating in the Free Radicals Tribe Kids Come TRY-Athlon training sessions, in which I am entering them on the following basis:

1. By participating I accept all risks necessarily from the participation which would result in loss of life or permanent injury.
o Accordingly I release all people associated with the conduct of events from and will indemnify them against all liability (including liability for their negligence) for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with my participation in events.
o For clarification, the people released include event organisers, promoters, sponsors, managers, Free Radicals Tribe Triathlon Club, Triathlon Australia Ltd, and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agent, contractors and volunteers including event medical and paramedical personnel. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds my heirs, executors, personal representatives and assigns.
2. I acknowledge that such events involve the real risk of injury or risk of death from various causes, including over-exertion, equipment failure, dehydration, accidents with other competitors, spectators and road uses, the course and weather conditions, just to name a few.
3. I understand that my child should not participate in events unless I have prepared appropriately and my physical condition has been verified by a medical practitioner, who has not advised me otherwise.
4. I warrant that I will inspect the Event course and arenas and all fixtures, fittings, equipment, goods, apparatus or other things supplied, provided or used in or related to the conduct of the Event (‘Event Staging Area’) and agree that my child will not participate in the Event unless I am completely satisfied with the adequacy and condition of the Event Staging Area.
5. I understand that the information I have provided herein will be included in a Triathlon Australia database and may be disclosed on occasions to the Australian Institute of Sports Commission, State Institutes and Academies of Sport and the Australian Sports Drug Agency.
o I also understand that information of a biographical nature including my child's name, date of birth, home state, results career highlights and interests may be released to the media in response to general requests.
6. I understand that compulsory insurance cover affected for participants in events and training does not cover me for all injury, loss or damage sustained by me, e.g. Heart failure and muscle fatigue.
7. The sanctioning process undertaken by Triathlon Queensland and safety precautions undertaken by event organisers (such as course supervision, race safety briefings, bicycle and helmet safety checks) are a service to the participants and other competitors but are not a guarantee of safety.
8. I agree to abide by all the Rules of Triathlon Australia which relate, in part, to safe and fair sporting practice.
9. I agree that my child will abide by the Triathlon Queensland Codes of Behaviour found on the Triathlon Queensland website and agree that they will abide by the rules and conditions of the Event, including those instruction in any literature or verbal or written form.
10. I certify that I am 18 years of age or older, or that I am the parent / guardian of the athlete competing and I have read this document and fully understand it.
*NOTE: If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must type AGREE to signify agreement with the contents of this Waiver.
