The Big Hurt is a multi-sport race that includes four legs:

* A 16.5-mile mountain bike that takes place in the foothills above Port Angeles
* A 3-mile kayak in Port Angeles Harbor
* A 30-mile road bike that goes west out of Port Angeles and crosses the Elwha River and visits Freshwater Bay, as well as the lower parts of Kelly Ridge on Dan Kelly and Eden Valley Roads.
* A 10-K Run, out and back on the Olympic Discovery Trail along the waterfront

Participants can race solo in Iron Division or as a relay team.

The prices of the event are:

January 1 - June 30:
Iron Division (Regular & Masters 50+): $90
Tandem Division (2-person team): $120
Team Division (3-4 person team): $240
*** Team Division Categories: Regular, Masters 50+, First Responder (police, fire, military), High School (special price for High School teams $120)

July 1 - August 31:
Iron Division: $95
Tandem and High School Team Division: $125
Team Division: $260

Sept 1 - Sept 25:
Iron Division $100
Tandem and High School Team Division: $130
Team Division: $280

A portion of event proceeds are donated to the Peninsula Trails Coalition, a local non-profit organization dedicated to the construction, maintenance, and promotion of the Olympic Discovery Trail and Olympic Adventure Trail.

YOU MUST REGISTER BY SEPT 1st TO BE ASSURED THAT YOU GET THE CORRECT NUMBER AND SIZES OF T-SHIRTS. No changes to t-shirt sizes can be made after Sept 1st, and you cannot exchange sizes at the race.

Teams just need team captain name to register - you do not need all team member names until race day.

Refund Policy
If Big Hurt is unable to happen due to Covid-19 closures, registered participants can choose from a free transfer to the 2021 event or an 90% refund. We appreciate your support to help us “keep the lights on” and keep bringing races to you into the future.
Clallam County in WA Phase 4 is needed for the race to happen.

Participant-initiated cancellations are subject to our normal no-refund policy.
