Event notes
Teams of three people racing office chairs ‘relay style’ around the Brewtown Quadrant over a two-hour period. Categories for open, corporate, and school teams. Winning team in each category is the most laps completed over the timeframe. All profits from the event will be donated to the Upper Hutt Food Bank.

The event will be based on the successful Japanese Office Chair Racing event:
Blood, sweat but no tears in Japan's office chair grand prix

Rules Overview:


• Maximum of three chairs per team. Teams can elect to share the same chair or race one chair per person. In the event of a chair failure, teams may replace the chair with one of their three chairs only at their designated team area.
• Repairs can be made to the chairs including wheel replacement and rolling assembly. Any repairs made to the wheels and rolling assembly must be ‘like for like’ (i.e. by swapping out and replacing parts).
• Riders must be seated on their chair at all times when racing.
• All chairs must be standard issue office chairs. Modifications are allowed but not to the rolling assembly of the chair (wheels, axle structure).
• Chairs may be scrutineered to ensure that they don’t present a danger to riders or spectators.
• The ‘Don’t be a Dick’ rule will apply.
