The Twisted Crawdad Trail Races take place on the first weekend in October and includes both mountain bike races and trail runs. In it’s seventh year, the Twisted Crawdad Trail Races boast challenging courses and multiple creek crossings. Improved in the fall of 2017, you’re less likely to get stuck in the mud while crossing the creeks thanks to the new concrete pavers. If you do for some reason, be sure to grab a crawdad or two if you can find them!

The mountain bike race takes place on Saturday while the run event is held on Sunday. All participants are welcome to attend the packet pick-up on Friday night at the Bean Broker and also the cook-out immediately following the bike/run race on both Saturday and Sunday.

Events begin and end at the Cliffs Recreational Area trail head in the Pine Ridge National Forest and span multiple trails throughout the area.


The overall male and female winners for the half marathon and 10K runs will win $100, $50, $25, respectively. No cash prizes for the 5K.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4TH
4:30 PM to 6:30 PM – Packet Pick up- Location TBD

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5TH
7:00 AM to 8:15 AM – Check-in and day-of registration at the Cliffs Trailhead (Directions)

8:30 AM – 20-25 Mile Race START

8:35 AM – 15 Mile Race START

10:30 AM to 3:30 PM – If needed, shuttle rides back to overflow parking lot

Post-Race – Enjoy the camaraderie and socialize with your competitors! The grill master will be cooking up hamburgers for you to enjoy at the finish line. Runners for Sunday’s races are welcome to attend. Live music will be provided by Lloyd Drust.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6TH
7:30 – 8:45 AM – Check-in and day-of registration at the Cliffs Trailhead (Directions)

9:00 AM – Half marathon START

9:05 AM – 5K and 10K START

10:30 AM to NOON – If needed, shuttle rides back to overflow parking lot

5K trail run/walk – $25
10K trail run – $35
Trail half marathon – $45
