This course, run from 08:30am to 4:30pm, is for individuals who wish to qualify as accredited Foundation Level Coaches so they can coach beginners and intermediate level paddlers in their club environment. It is ideal for paddling parents who want to coach at their club. This is stage one of the AC coaching course.

Participants need to bring suitable clothing prepared to paddle during role play coaching sessions on the water.
MWKC has change rooms with hot showers.

Course material including the Foundation Level Coaching manual will be supplied and emailed to you prior to the day.

Before coming to the course we recommend you complete the Australian Sports Commission Community Coaching General Principles Course Certificate online.

Evidence of relevant basic canoe skills. Either:
• Documentation required: evidence of involvement in canoeing or
• Completion of a basic skills assessment during completions of the AC Foundation Coaching Course Practical
Component.

The venue Manly Warringah Kayak Club is located adjacent to Berry Reserve Car Park on Pittwater Rd Narrabeen.

Course Leader Jake Michael NSWIS Head Kayak Coach, sport scientist (PhD). Jake will be assisted by other qualified instructors.

NSWIS head kayak coach, looking after Olympic, World and National champions on a daily basis.
Previously worked at NSWIS as a sports bio-chemist with the kayak, rowing and swimming teams where as a sport scientist (PhD) he researched ways to get athletes providing greater power output with reduced energy cost..
Jake represented Australia in kayaking, on the national team from 2005-2010.
