This year’s Head of the Dart SUP Challenge 2026 will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026 starting in Dartmouth and finishing in Totnes. Full details for the event can be found on our website

 

Important

QRBs and PFDs are mandatory for all participants To book your place please complete the form below. If you are booking for multiple people, please ensure you have all details required (DOB, contact information, medical, board category etc) and that these are correct before paying. Cut off date for changes is Friday 27 March.

Categories

  • Leisure Fleet - Non-competitive cruising division, any type of SUP boards welcome. For less experienced or non-competitive paddlers.

  • 14' Race Fleet - hardboard or inflatable*

  • 12'6 Race Fleet - hardboard or inflatable*

  • Dragon - team of four on a dragon board**

  • Multi person boards - those looking to take part on an Tandom or XL board**
     

    *NOTE: To stand a chance of winning the Starboard Airline trophy please ensure you select the Starboard Airline board.

     

    **NOTE: Each member of the team must register.

 

Due to the nature of the event, no under 16’s are allowed to take part. If you have any queries regarding this please contact us to discuss.

Entry Cost

To enter the event, it is £45 for the race and leisure fleet, and £30 per person for a multi person board. This includes a finishers medal, timing and a few other goodies!

Optional Extras

This year we also have the following available:

  • Shuttle Bus from the finish to the start before the event £10 (check the website for times)
  • Branded merchandise: Hoody £40, Technical Tshirt £20, Beanie £15, Visor £15

 

Waiting List

Once all places are filled a waiting list will automatically open and as places become available (generally in March onwards) they will be offered on a first come first served basis until registration closes.

By registering to take part in the event, you understand the nature of the activity and agree, that: You have been Stand Up Paddle boarding for more than 3 months You agreed to adhere to the mandatory safety requirements, as detailed on our website You are proficient in Stand Up Paddling for paddling 8 miles on flat or slightly choppy water You will comply with the commitment stated below. Event organisers reserve the right to cancel an individual(s) registration and if required, take further action should evidence become available that an individual has provided a false certification relating to the above. Paddler Commitment I will actively take responsibility for my own behaviour I will disclose any medical conditions in advance I agree to stop paddling and assist any fellow paddlers that may be in need of assistance if safe to do so I agree to abide by the expertise of the organisers and their staff I will wear suitably attired for the event and prepare for potential immersion in cold water in the event of a fall. I will ensure I am attached to my boards by a sturdy suitable leash and quick release belt (compulsory) I will wear the mandatory numbered bib supplied by the organisers and not block the number with rash vests, hydration packs or any other apparel I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in this event and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical person. I hereby consent to receive medical treatment that may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident, and/or illness during this event. I confirm I will notify the Race Director(s) before the start of the event if I decided not to take part once registered (either due to weather conditions, fitness etc). I acknowledge that this athletic event is an extreme test of a person’s physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to: actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, coaches, event officials, event monitors and/or producers of the event; lack of hydration, water quality, weather, and/or other natural conditions. I hereby assume all the risks of participating in this event. In consideration of my registration and permitting me to participate in this event, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows: (A) Waive, release, and discharge from any and all liability for my death, disability personal injury, property damage, property theft or actions of any kind which may hereafter accrue to me or my travelling to and from this event, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: SUP Event Management Ltd and Waterborn SUP and their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, representatives and agents, the event sponsors and event volunteers, (B) indemnify and hold harmless all entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made by other individuals or entities as a result of my actions during this event Event Organisers Commitment Provide safety cover along the course by trained individuals Ensure safety boats and equipment will be in a good working order and seek evidence of appropriate insurance from service providers Conduct and maintain a risk assessment for the event Inform participants of hazards and risks identified at the mandatory paddler briefing before participants take to the water Provide appropriate first aid cover on land and water In the event of bad weather resulting in the course being altered, communication to all participants will be taken no later than 72hrs before the event In the event of the cancellation of the event, a refund will be be offered at our discretion after expenses for items that cannot be recouped (such as fuel, medals) have been paid Data Privacy Under the Data Protection Act, I authorise the Organisers to use my data for the sole use of this event, as per below. To enable organisers to run the event it is necessary for data to be shared with our event partners (e.g. water safety, first aid cover). Information shared with partners will solely be for the purpose of the event and will be securely disposed of post event. To enable registration and results, data relating to an individual's name and age will be made available online via our registration platform (Webscorer), with links shared via social media and websites. This information will be publicly available and will be retained for a period of seven (7) years. If an individual does not wish for their details to be shared, they will be excluded from the results. INSURANCE DISCLAIMER Whilst the organisers take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all participants of the activity, unfortunately accidents can occur. Each participant should familiarise themselves with the hazards and try to minimise these by complying with the Organisers risk management guidelines. The Organisers accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss or injury resulting from any person's accidents or injury caused by such accidents. Furthermore it is understood and agreed that individuals participate at their own risk and take responsibility for any third party liability insurance should they wish to have it.
