Save the Date: May 10: Canoe/Paddling Demonstration and more!
Are you a person with a visual impairment and always wanted to try your hand at canoeing? Join TABA (Texas Association of Blind Athletes), NFB (National Federation of the Blind-Dallas), RMLC (Richardson Midday Lions Club) and DTx Paddlers for a picnic and demonstration:
Who: All persons with visual impairment ages 10 and up.
*Family members and friends are invited to join the picnic but canoeing will be limited to persons with visual impairments because of time constraints.
When: Saturday, May 10 2025
Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Where: McInnish Park Boat Ramp, Trinity River Paddling Trail
All instruction, equipment and canoes will be provided by DTx Paddlers. Water and gatorade will be provided by Richardson Midday Lions Club. Pizza will be provided by the Dallas chapter of NFB. In addition to canoeing, there will be other recreational and leisure activities that you can learn about or participate in. Or, you can stroll the beautiful park grounds and catch up on visiting with old friends or make new ones! There are a few picnic tables and shaded areas. But please feel free to bring your own chairs and pop-up tents if you would like.
All canoers must complete the waiver in addition to the registration. If you are a canoer and you have family members or friends joining, please fill in the number of people who are attending with you so we can have a headcount for food. All canoers must wear water shoes or closed toe shoes, as you will be stepping in and out of the canoe from several inches of water.
If you are a volunteer or other supporter, please RSVP to Victoria Herrera at vmh2883@gmail.com
