Event notes
1. Please note that while previous Gibraltar Triathlons have been aimed at novices, this race is a Test Event for the 2019 Island Games. We can only accept registrations from experienced triathletes: please contact us with details of your experience if you have any doubts on our required standard.

2. All competitors must attend a pre-race briefing on the rules and the route, which should be as follows, but may change on the day:

Swim (750m): Run into the sea and swim once around two marker buoys. Exit the water, run up the mat, through the cones to the transition area on Eastern Beach Road.

Cycle (20 km): Put on a top if swimming shirtless, then securely fasten your helmet, collect your bike and push it out of the transition area. Cones and marshals will direct you as you cycle into Sir Herbert Miles Road, turning around a temporary roundabout towards Catalan Bay. After passing Both Worlds to the edge of Dudley Ward Tunnel, turn as directed at another temporary roundabout, back towards Eastern Beach for the remainder of the lap. Complete FOUR laps and return to transition area.

Run (5 km): Exit transition and run up the reclamation area, before turning back towards Eastern Beach Road. Run the length of this Road to the roundabout, before running back to the intersection with Devil’s Tower Road, then back past the transition area for your second lap. After completing FOUR laps, run towards the finish line at the end of Eastern Beach Road.

3. If, for whatever reason, the sea is declared unsafe on Race Day, the organisers may stage a duathlon rather than a triathlon.

4. The bike course is NON-DRAFTING, and ITU non-drafting rules will be applied and enforced.

5. Competitors are responsible for counting their own bike and run laps, and may be disqualified for not covering the full distance.

6. Safety is our top priority, followed by fair competition. Organisers will disqualify anyone they consider to be breaking either safety or competitive rules.
